Tenino House & ADU
Architect of Record: Corey Omey
Completed: 2017
Location: Portland, Oregon

This project is in a rural-feeling neighborhood of SE Portland where the owner wanted to minimize the height and scale of a new build to fit into its landscape and context, now surrounded by native plants and the occasional wild peacock.
Scissor trusses with dormers for south light, allow for head space in the ADU over the garage and a lofted open kitchen, living, and dining in the house with office upstairs. The modest footprint minimizes the ecological footprint while natural light and efficient layouts add to the space’s coziness. The simple slab on grade and metal roof require little maintenance and allowed for radiant heat and an easy solar addition a few years later.
Sustainability & Resiliency Features:
- Solar roof (installed after photo)
- Radiant slab heat
- Small footprint
- Reduced hardscaping and native landscaping
