Domaine Serene Winery
Architect of Record: Ernie Munch
Completed: 2001
Location: Dayton, Oregon
Domaine Serene was completed for the 2001 harvest season. The label has been producing exquisite Pinot Noir since 1989.
A commitment to quality wine led owners Grace and Ken Evenstad, along with their winemaker, to create a gravity-fed winery.
While the winery appears to be a village of several different buildings, they are all connected by the underground barrel and case storage areas. The stair tower serves as an airshaft bringing cool, fresh air into all levels of the winery. Materials of concrete, douglas fir, and stucco combine with the buildings’ forms to fit the Evenstads’ desire for an Old World appearance.
